Halo, Welcome, Bienvenue!

Welcome to the National Security Council Secretariat (NSCS) website. This space serves as a platform to share information on security matters and activities within the NSCS.

Here you will find an overview of the NSCS vision, mission, roles, key functions and activity highlights. We have included in this website booklets and podcasts to assist in improving our viewers understanding on security, in line with the 10 security pillars set out in Vanuatu’s National Security Strategy. Feel free to acquaint yourself with the uploads in this website. We hope you find all this informative and interesting.

As part of a global community, Vanuatu is not immune to global threats. These include the accelerating impacts of climate change, terrorism, drug and human trafficking, cyberattacks, biosecurity risks, and broader human security challenges. Amidst these threats lies the responsibility of the state to provide national security for its people.

“There can be no higher responsibility of a government than the protection of the nation – to maintain national sovereignty and border integrity; to ensure a peaceful and just society; and to nurture strong human security for all and national resilience in the face of natural disasters and unforeseen events.”
Salwai, Former Prime Minister of Vanuatu.

The role of the state to safeguard the security of our nation is a collective responsibility, shaped by everyone’s actions. The Government is committed to collaborating across different agencies and partners within Vanuatu and abroad, to create a safe and prosperous future for all.
