The National Security Council Secretariat (NSCS) wishes to advise everyone that as per the National Security Act, all foreign military vessels and aircrafts, marine scientific research intending to enter Vanuatu’s sovereign waters and airspace must obtain prior clearance and approval by the National Security Council (NSC).
Requests by bilateral or multilateral Partners for entry of a military aircraft or vessel or a marine scientific research vessel must be processed to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and External Trade for submission to the NSCS.
Per the provisions of the National Security Act, any person or institution that undertakes marine scientific research without the prior approval of the National Security Council commits an offence and is liable, upon conviction, to a fine not exceeding VT 10,000,000, or to a term of imprisonment not exceeding 10 years, or to both.
